HOLIDAY HYGGE

Seasons Greetings from Inwood!

It’s Juliet – writing late-night, burrito-ed within my beloved weighted blanket and surrounded by library books, as Jon underscores musical comedy a borough over in Brooklyn. #livingthedream

I’m “here” with some exciting updates from the “Sarah-Verse” – inviting you, too, to get cozy, perhaps prepare a celebratory beverage for a toast…

Friends, I calculated: *311* days have passed since last post – I’m quick to admit, *much* of our mental bandwidth (meant for this show) shifted to address some heavy realities of navigating America in 2025. I won’t dig into our specifics in this space – I know we’re far from alone, lucky to be loved, and aiming always to serve where we’re needed.

In these wild times, art often feels like the first language of (my) hope – this show in particular.

The core of all prior posts stays true: we *continue* to believe in the magic of this quirky, comic-based forest fable – and its *impressive* ability to shape-shift (and uplift!) as circumstances present. We also remain dedicated to using all funds raised to produce a version of this show scaled to what we can *share* with (all of) you – while providing fair wages for all artists involved.

Without further ado, some crystals on the chandelier of SARAH AND THE SEED’s calendar year:

…drumroll…

WE HAVE A *PROFESSIONAL* PV (piano-vocal) SCORE!

What this means: the songs of Sarah and the Seed: The Musical may now be learned *clearly* from sheet music by singers and musicians worldwide – regardless of composer (Jon’s) presence in the room!

To our donors, deep and ongoing gratitude: because of YOU, we were thrilled to collaborate with a pair of talented, in-demand musical arrangers *and pay them fairly* for mapping the show’s songs onto staves via industry-standard software – including a beautiful *new* song we can’t wait to hear (and *share*!) with full cast harmonies!

This is a *MAJOR* step forward in preserving the show's legacy – and *FANTASTIC* news, because…

WE ARE ZEROING IN ON VENUE/CALENDAR PLANS TO *RECORD* OUR SCORE!

Without getting lost in-the weeds… We did, indeed, work some budgeting wizardry last winter, scouted venues and “took meetings” throughout the spring and summer (our materials landing in some *fancy* hands!), and selected a venue/date (for autumn – as “planned”).  On the *cusp* of a contract (and with a *different* blog post ready to go!), our venue experienced some significant organizational (surprise!) shakeups that caused us to pause and reconsider. While letting go of that road was disappointing, community trust is *critical* to growing new musicals (and hey, the pandemic certainly “gifted” us patience in terms of our timeline…).

As ever, gut-trusting paid off. We’ve connected with an impressive *new* program – one that happens weave wonderful people and places from our pasts, calling upon Jon and me to serve (also) as *teaching* artists in a college conservatory setting – talk about #livingthedream!!

While at a nascent stage (the ‘26-’27 academic year looks like a realistic target at this point), we respect your inquiries about project status, realize 311 days is quite a stretch of “silence” on this site – and late-November strikes as a nice moment to express some (more) thanks your way.

Thank you for reading, for joining us on this journey – and for embracing our patient pace: we continue to invite your questions, connections, and visits!

Please keep the good thoughts coming – and cheers to the circuitous evolution of this little-musical-that-*can*!

P.S. Our year-end “wish list”: (1) Please follow @sarahandtheseed (on Instagram) and “heart” its humble archive of (11) posts (if you haven’t already) – this is super-quick, FREE, low-hanging fruit, and it *does* help the show find a larger audience; (2) Donations (of *any* amount) remain welcome – and tax-deductable! (Reach out to SarahAndTheSeed@gmail.com with any questions!)
